welcome to pet portrait originals

Here you can commission a professionally painted portrait of your pet (or someone else's, they make a great gifts!) that is not merely an illustration, but a professional work of art by a painter that's active and trained as a fine art, gallery exhibited artist.

The custom professional portraits in oil paint offered here are great ways to celebrate and memorialize a pet as a work of art. You can view examples of various pet portraits in the galleries listed above.

HOW IT WORKS:

Portraits are painted in oil paint, from photographs onto wood panel using all archival and professional quality materials. They're ready to frame within weeks of the commission.

step 1: email with questions

step 2: photographs, submitted or taken

step 3: painting created within an agreed time (I love deadlines!)

step 4: painting is delivered, ready to frame and hang.

*shipping possible:  via fed ex or USPS charged actual cost.

about the artist

Mike Geno is a professional artist living and working in Philadelphia. He has an active studio practice and exhibits nationally on a regular basis. In addition to working in his studio, Mike teaches at Moore College of Art & Design.

Degrees:

Masters of Fine Arts (painting & drawing) Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL

Bachelors of Fine Arts (painting & drawing) Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Phila, PA

I started painting portraits of pets in 2001, as a fun way to relate to my friends and colleagues that adored their pets. It offered a chance for me to paint a cherished subject and transcend it into fine art. In 2003 I was offered an opportunity to exhibit in a gallery in Philadelphia. I created the Pet Portrait Project to further combine the worlds of fine art and pet portraiture, which often did not relate. I simply painted over 50 pets from submitted photos mailed to me.

The experience itself was really fun. The effect on pet owners, incomparable.
